The Hangover of Dreaming

Drunk on little dreams of you
Sunburst through the blinds
Into my eyes, into my mind
The mind that holds body
A prisoner to these sheets
I reach out in somnolence
Invisible hands grasping
For transient brainwaves
To save glimpses of
My sweet reverie of you
Before you fade into the light

The Hangover of Dreaming

The Moments That Were Stolen

You have your hand in his. Your head resting on his shoulder. I have my hand in hers. Her head on my shoulder. And I want to reach out so badly and hold your hand and lock your fingers in mine and never let you go.

This is when I miss you the most.

We are in a crowd of friends and everybody else is laughing and talking. You haven’t spoken in a while, neither have I. I understand your silence because it mirrors mine. And I don’t want to betray our feelings by looking into your eyes and have you look into mine, the way we do in the moments we are alone.

This is when I miss you the most.

I’m holding you close and I’m looking into your eyes. Your beauty has me bewildered, your scent has me possessed. I lean into kiss your lips and suddenly I’m lying on my bed. Just me. Without you. Wanting so much to fall back into sleep, back into the dreams where we belong together.

This is when I miss you the most.

And I want you to know that I have never missed anybody like this. The way I’m missing you.

The Moments That Were Stolen

The Sky Belongs to You and Me

Sometimes I look up at the sky and smile; because the stars have lead me to you, and you will always be a star in my eyes.

Sometimes I look up at the sky and smile; because I know that somewhere out there you are looking up and smiling too.

Sometimes I look up at the sky and want to throw things at it; in the hopes of causing a rift in the universe, so that the earth will shudder, and paradigms will shift, the world will change and your hand will belong in mine.

Inside my dreams and out of it.

Sometimes I look up at the sky and smile.
